The 25 Facts list thing…
Oh, why the hell not?
Rules:
Once you’ve been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it’s because I want to know more about you.
(To do this, go to “notes” under tabs on your profile page, paste these instructions in the body of the note, type your 25 random things, tag 25 people, then click publish.)
1. I blur the line between being completely insecure about the way I look, dress, hair, etc, and not giving a shit whatsoever.
2. Cooking is truly a euphoric state for me. Dishes, not so much, but I wish I had access to the Iron Chef Kitchen - I would go wild.
3. I don’t consider my job a job, or my career my career. It’s just what I do. I would rather be poor for the rest of my life, as long as I’m in the film business.
4. I’ve gotten more wisdom from Tolkien and Pullman than any philsophy course I’ve ever taken.
5. I wanted to be a rapper in highschool, and I legitmately thought I had potential. Even recorded in a make shift booth in college. Then I found film. Thank god.
6. I love watching team sports, but hate competing. I prefer boards with no wheels, martial arts, and sky diving. I’m praying I can go back to skydiving - it is, without a doubt, the most peaceful thing in the world when you pull that chute.
7. Marathons of TV on DVD are not foreign to me. I have self induced atrophy because of such phenomenal shows as Friday Night Lights, Firefly, and The West Wing.
8. Never have had my heart broken, maybe just bruised. Cliche as it is, I don’t let anyone get that close. But I am desperately trying to overcome that.
9. I had a lime green 1992 Honda Accord coupe in highschool. Cigarette burns on the cloth, brakes failed a couple of times, it would fall apart randomly. I fucking loved that car. I seriously miss it. It was like another home to me and it got me thru some of the dumbest shit I’ve ever done.
10. On that subject, I hated highschool. I was a bad kid, constant disappointment, just wasn’t great. At the same time, my friends were amazing, and the best times in highschool were always with them.
11. I’m pretty close to the folks I’ve met here on the west coast, but my blood, my best friends, are all back in Texas. Without them, I have absolutely no idea what I would do, and I don’t even want to think about it.
12. I need noise while I fall asleep. I’m aware a lot of people do, but these don’t have to be interesting facts, do they?
13. I’m really close with my older sister, she’s an amazing person and who I turn to for family matters, career advice, or in highschool when me and my rugrat friends wanted to get wasted and I asked her to run all over town really late to buy me alcohol.
14. I’m terribly in love with my dog back home. She’s unbelievably soft and cute, but big and has got a gruff bark. She’ll jump all over you when she sees you. And playfully bite you.
15. There was a point where Starbucks was my two time a day spot. I realized I was going into debt because of mediocre coffee. Awesome.
16. In 9th grade, I had a biology teacher that I, and a friend, could have sworn wanted to have an affair with me. Possibly wishful thinking on my part, but there was situational evidence. I’ll tell you about it later.
17. I know, for certain, I will make it to New Zealand. Either by visit, travel, backpack, filming, or retirement, I will fucking make it.
18. People laugh because I drink whiskey and scotch, and apparently that’s an old man’s drink. Well, it’s refreshing to me.
19. I can’t wait to be a dad. I have two incredible nephews that are too cute for words, so I’m getting a little practice in. Not sure if I’ll be a great dad, but I know that I’ll try pretty damn hard.
20. I still have every year book and panorama picture from middle school, b/c that was the time period I came to Houston…oh yeah…
21. …I was born in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. My dad was an engineer, oil business and what not. It was a fairly normal childhood…international kids, dodgeball, 120 degree heat, Operation Desert Storm…you know, the usual.
22. I got into an argument once when I was a child with my mom about Superman existing. I specifically remember pointing to the sky and yelling “Superman could be flying over us right now!” - my mom was crushing my dreams and telling me that there is no Superman. I remember this argument so distinctly, I must have really pissed her off, or this was a really traumatic point in my life and I’ll need therapy in the future.
23. Despite #22, Batman is my favorite superhero. Maybe cliche, but I’ve been a Batman for a long, long time. I remember walking out of seeing the theater after Batman Returns with my dad, and asking him if he thinks Batman could really exist. He said yes.
24. Mississippi is a beautiful state. The south is a great place to live, work, and raise a family. I miss it dearly, along with venison, sweet tea, and going boating - everyone had a boat. Oh and fried catfish.
25. I miss my dad. I think about him every minute, and really wish I could talk to him again. I dream about him fairly regularly, so I’m guessing he’s okay. Hopefully I’ll be half as good of a man as he was, and I’ll see him again one day.
Sorry if you’ve done this, I guess you’re in the clear. Thanks for reading/skimming thru my bullshit. Cheers!
